The Government Finance Function is a community of professionals, supported by brilliant training, access to brilliant tools and technologies, and a really supportive community.

I think there's never been a more exciting time to join the Government Finance Function because I think we're at the cutting-edge now of genuinely thinking about technology in a different way, focused on people, focused on innovation, and focused on making it a great place to work.

For me, the Government Finance Function is more than just numbers. It's about people. I wanted to pursue this in the Civil Service because you want to make the change. You want to do something for public.

[Voice three]

When I got to know the Government Finance Function, I suddenly found a big family waiting for me there.

[Voice four]

The thing that's really struck me is how the people work together, lean on each other, support each other, and deliver something bigger than any of them could do individually.

[Voice five]

The Civil Service have a fantastic system of educating staff, either developing you within your role or looking to develop you in a different area that you might like to transition into.

[Voice six]

There's lots of opportunities, whether it's learning through networking, attending conferences.

[Voice seven]

You'll be working on things that are at a scale, which is unrivalled elsewhere. It's also being right at the cusp of current affairs of the day, working with ministers. There's a real energy around that that you don't get elsewhere.

It's a lot of responsibility, but it is actually very exciting because I know that everything I do matters.

[Voice nine]

We've got so many different problems to solve and so many different new things that are coming into view, whether it is artificial intelligence or how we are going to grow the economy.

[Voice ten]

There is no greater sense of purpose. You're not going to find a greater sense of purpose anywhere outside of public service.
